Evidence suggests that there is a high risk of addiction and mental health issues in the LGBTQ community. This course will prepare the addiction and mental health practitioner with accurately recognizing, assessing, and treating individuals who identify as LGBTQ and who present with substance use problems. Special attention will be paid to comprehension of sexuality self-identifier terms, culturally-specific risk and etiological factors, and evidence-based culturally-competent treatment considerations.
